as many of you may know, i'm currently an ms and pioneer, and been missing meetings consistently for almost 2 months.
i have been concerned about my dad's reaction to me wanting to leave the org and he's been questioning me about missing meetings.
well i've decided now not to jump through the elders' hoops anymore.
Just a note of encouragment.

i have been dating a very committed jw - he spent some time out of the organisation after a divorce and about a year ago has been granted a fellowship again.
i absolutely adore him - and what is there not to love!
he is the most kind, sweet and lovable man i have ever met.
Welcome to this site: I know you will enjoy the "company."
There was a young man that was posted a post when I first "came aboard," here, and he had the opposite problem: he was dating a young JW woman.
I told him it was like a Disney movie and he had fallen in love with a "mermaid." I admitted one fact from the illustrations I had seen: the top half is absolutely great, however, it is that "taily" bottom half that presents a problem......
You have fallen in love with a merman: unless you have somending to this story you are.....well.....
screwed. (sorry, I could not come up with another word that is softer....harder...yes.....)
My advice, based on forty years with the JWs: Run. Flee. Abandon Ship. Scoot. Go away.
Gotta go....might comment later...

PS: Did I say: "Run like Baptist Hell?....."
i have not noticed any posts from crumpet.
.
what gives?.
Crumpet,
I missed a point or two:
What is your professional goal?
This "exams" are related to what major in school?
Wishing you success in all things,

hello all, just had an interesting conversation with a p.o.
elder and his wife who were leaving me a incognito invitation to the "follow the christ" convention.i declined the invitation, but told them i had an associated press article i'd like to leave with them about molestation settlements jw's made outside of court.
i asked if they were aware of this settlement.
Flip,
Well done: you made your point and held their attention....good job, bro....

i was on amazon.com today and noticed that they were selling a collection of rutherford's books on cd.
there was also the watchtower from 1920-1929 and a selection of yearbooks on cd.
they were all being sold under the name of research applications.
What is at the end of "Rutherford's Rainbow?"
A pot.....chamber pot.....open lid at your own risk!

r. f. wondered how many lurkers there are on the board.
i don't know the answer, but i will admit that i since a few years am one of them.
i read here almost every day.. like many others here i am an ex-jw, left the organisation about 25 years ago and never regretted it.. .
Madame,
WELCOME!

the wbt$ certainly puts themselves as mediator between god and mankind..very unchristian.....in many cases the wbt$ would have us ignore the words of jesus and have us rely on them, for any meaning the bible may have..as in the case of the september 15th 1968 watchtower artical "why are you looking foreward to 1975??
?..the writer tells us "this is no time to be toying with the words of jesus!
"..the end is very near..this was on a thread by another poster a few days ago.....we all know that armageddon did not arrive as predicted by the wbt$ in 1975..but..to work up the 1975 frenzy,jw`s were told to ignore the words of jesus.....is telling people to ignore the words of jesus,anti-christ behavior?.....outlaw
Inquis,
Vernon Williams, here.
I am watching Levi, so my concentration levels are not up to par.....
The WT is anti-Christ.
Period.
The goal, the main point of thier ministry is to destroy, demolish whatever relationship one has with Jesus. If a person does not have a "religion," The JW's goal is to see to it that a personal relationship with Jesus is NOT formed. Not matter how screwed up "Chirstian" groups are, they do not regulate Jesus to the position he holds in the mind/heart of the average JW.
If, for some reason....I do not follow your thinking, exactly.....you think the JWs are "pro-Christ" in regard to the relationship one has with Jesus...well you, simply are un-schooled in JW mythology
theology
My take,

art linkletter used to do program in which he highlighted the funny things that kids say.
later bill cosby did the same sort of show.
locally, there is a lady who does a newspaper column in which funny things are recounted.. this forum represents hundreds and even thousands of people - many of whom have childen, or at least are around children.
Jeff,
":Levi" is my wife's great nephew: we recieved him into our home when he was two...he will be six in Oct. I wrote down several "Levi" stories: here is one: happened about a year and a half ago, now:
To All, Levi has had a couple of adventures of late: we were given two kinds of "treats" to give to the ducks at the park by Mr and Mrs Nash down the street from Mr and Mrs Massri: Cheetos and salad crackers. I took Levi to the park and we learned the following: Geese hate Cheetos. They are not wild about crackers. They hiss at you for messing up on what to bring to the park for snack time and have a very non forgiving attitude. Ducks prefer salad crackers to Cheetos and are generally thankful. Small black birds with sharp beaks like everything and will go to dangerous extremes to nab a Cheeto. Levi took all this in and was quite pleased with the snack experment. I guess his animal observation experment germinated and he moved on to more aggressive scientific adventures. This morning, I was setting in the Study working on an email when I heard Aunt Terra yell, "My God, Levi, what are you doing??!!??" Usually, from word spoken and tone, I can tell Levi is in some sort of an expermental mode and the cost of the experment, in Aunt Terra's estimation, is greater than the "general good." "Terra, what happened?" I venture a inquiry. "Levi, is in here licking the cat!" Aunt Terra responded in a state of dis-belief. Turns out, Levi decided to help Fetch, our eighteen year old cat, groom herself. Seeing the manner of "natural grooming" Levi decided to assist in a, mutually, natural manner. After a couple of licks, he realized this was not the best method for a human to help a cat groom itself. Fetch is shedding. Badly. Just after Aunt Terra yelled, Levi ran across the room to the doorway of the Study and was standing about three feet from me. His eyes were very wide. He was waving his arms about like the robot from the old "Lost in Space" TV show (DANGER!! DANGER!!) His mouth was in a contortion. If he stuck out his tongue to get the cat hair out of his mouth to avoid gagging, it did not get the hair off his tongue. If he brought his tongue back into his mouth, well, he had a mouthful of cathair. He was rapidly vacilating between sticking his tongue out, gagging, and spitting. This happened, as all Levi incidents do, rapidly. "Go wash out your mouth in the bathroom sink." was my advice. He took off and in a few seconds I heard water running and "gurgle, gurgle, spit" going on in there. Problem solved. This time......
i was first contacted by the jws in 1968 when i was pg w/our first son.
i bought the little blue book "the truth that leads to everlasting life" for 25 cents.
found it interesting, but put it away because i was busy after our son's birth and i didn't think my husband would want to get into religious material as we had left the methodist church because they were always crying for $.. jump ahead to 1970. husband was home which was unusual because he normally worked saturdays.
There were so many "reg flags" that it looked like a parade of emergancy vehicles with every light, bell, and siren turned on.....
Stupidity on my part?
Damn straight.
What held me to the Witnessess was doctrine.....forty years with these chuckle heads and not one Christian along the way capable of discussing the Good News in a calm, consistant manner....funny, huh?
